Are they a wicked expensive type of cherry? Seems like the extra freight wouldn’t be worth it.

Mmmmm plastics…. Who orders a single jar of cherries? Go buy that stuff at the store.

I find this extremely frustrating not midly interesting. We need to stop the plastic use

I’m overly interested in the maraschino flavored syrup. Like the whatever is in maraschino cherries, or the liqueur? Because those are very different and I’m interested in the the latter.

I used to ship lots of goods and often times some sellers of packaging supplies would visit us, trying to sell some of their new fancy overpriced and overengineered “Gamebreaking” product.
We never purchased any of those but it was very common for them to leave us free samples in hopes of us maybe buying more.
Could maybe be that this is what happened here. “Hey Joe whats that Balloon thing? – Oh thats just a sample, just use it for the next order”

Oh, wow they went for the wide ones, normally jars and bottles use the wine protector ones. I pack a few in my bag when I go to places where I might buy some bottles or something long and fragile to put in my bag, They work great for checked items, can handle the rough and tumble. The one drawback is that I am pretty sure housekeeping thinks I am a freak if I am bringing a bottle and toss the protector in the wastebasket, they sort of look like a fleshlight.

As a casual packaging nerd I love it. Also curious how well the center is protected.

I order hot sauce online and it usually comes in a package similar to this. Next time I get a bottle I’ll have to post it

In physics class we had an assignment to mail a single Pringle across the country, if it broke you failed. This is basically how I mailed mine.

Zooming in on the ingredients list, those aren’t even remotely high end maraschino cherries! They’re the basic low-end “it’s just sugar and food colouring” kind! I could kind of understand the balloon packaging if it was a jar of Luxardo, but this makes it extra mildly interesting. It’s the maraschino cherry equivalent of putting extra special protective packaging around a box of Chips Ahoy. 🤣

Wow! If only companies used this for delivery instead

They started doing this because they were getting too many returns from the delivery people that would throw them onto porches instead of placing them on the porch.
